If you've secured tickets to one of the many hit shows on now at QPAC (hello Chicago, Beauty and the Beast, and Jersey Boys!), you're likely looking for somewhere to dine beforehand. We’ve got you covered with our round up of the best spots to dine pre-show at South Bank, catering to everything from luxe to kid-friendly.
Ithaka
For a luxe pre-theatre experience, Ithaka is a must-visit. With its breathtaking riverfront setting, Mediterranean vibe, and delectable Greek cuisine, we recommend starting with the tzatziki dip and fresh bread. Follow it up with the Angus beef with almond skordalia, eggplant, and chilli butter. Complete your meal with the Horiataki salad for a touch of greenery on the side. We couldn’t recommend this meal combo more highly for a pre-show meal to share between two!
Riverside Café & Bar
Situated a stone's throw away from South Bank's riverside playground, Riverside Café & Bar is the ultimate kid-friendly spot for a pre-show feast. The kids will love chowing down on a selection of kid-friendly meals from their tailored menu. Plus, you will also love the selection of delicious burgers, fish tacos, grilled barramundi, or chicken parmi to name a few faves.
Mucho Mexicano
Delight in Mexican fare before the show at Mucho Mexicano! The nacho il nino from the kids menu is always a crowd-pleaser with the minis. Featuring warm corn chips and cheese with sour cream, guac, and a choice of beef and beans, pulled pork or black beans.
Oh, and did we mention that the kids will be kept entertained while they wait for their food with their very own activity book filled with stickers, colouring in books, and crayons.
For the adults, you can’t go past the trio of tacos. We love the pulled pork 'Carnitas' with burnt pineapple salsa. Don't forget to try the frozen watermelon and coconut margarita (thank us later!).
The Charming Squire
Being located a short walk from QPAC has its benefits, particularly when you have a fussy child in tow! The Charming Squire has a downright delicious kids menu with everything from cheeseburgers and chips, pan-fried gnocchi, wood-fired lamb skewers and chips, and our personal fave the classic fish and chips. You can rest assured they’ve got something for every craving.
For the adults, they’ve got a delicious range of pizzas, schnitty’s, and steaks that will keep your hunger at bay during the show. Our pick is the di carne pizza with Sopressa, prosciutto, cacciatore, mozzarella, and olives (drool!).
Tai Tai
Enjoy your pre-show feast at Tai Tai, conveniently located across the road from QPAC. Indulge in their Cantonese-style menu offerings, including pork belly bao, sweet and sour barramundi, and the signature deep-fried ice cream to name a few that make for a mouth-watering meal! Take your time savouring these authentic tastes before heading to your show, just steps away.
