Your South Bank Breakfast Bucket List

I think we can all agree, breakfast tastes so much better when you don’t make it.

Whether it’s the golden ooze of a perfectly poached egg or the sweet flaky layers of a fresh croissant (because let’s be honest, ain’t no one got time to make that), home-made breakfasts just never seem to compare.

If you’re on the hunt for a new café to call your local, or if you’re simply looking to try something new, here are our go-to spots for a delicious, breakfast feast in South Bank.

Denim Co. – When it comes to breakfast, Denim Co. know how to bring the fun. Putting their own unique twist on some of our favourite brekky classics (hello loaded croissant benedict with double smoked bacon), this is THE place to go for something delicious and a little bit different. Did we mention these guys won Best Breakfast and Best Café last year in our 2021 eatSouthBank Foodie Awards?

Lost Bean - Sometimes, you just need a good coffee and the basics. Whether it’s a slice of toasted banana bread on the run or their avo and fetta on house baked Turkish bread, you will not be disappointed by a visit to Lost Bean.

VICI – Serving up a beautiful breakfast menu, speckled with some classic Italian flavours, VICI do breakfast well. Enjoy a quick coffee and pastry to go or sit and indulge in a delicious meal like their pan-roasted mushrooms with triple cream brie, sourdough, poached egg, and pesto.

Espresso Garage – For those who prefer a smaller breakfast or something quick on the run, Espresso Garage is a big vibe. Winning ‘Best Coffee’ in our 2021 eatSouthBank Foodie Awards, these guys never disappoint when it comes to that much needed hit of caffeine (accompanied by a little brekky treat of course).

Barbossa Bar – If you haven’t yet tried the Akoori Style Scrambled Eggs from Barbossa Bar, you need to change that STAT! Fluffy, spicy scrambled eggs with tomato and chorizo on flat bread, we needn’t say more.

River Quay Fish – Craving a leisurely, waterfront breakfast? How does house-made granola with yoghurt, honey and seasonal fruits sound? With meals that are also suitable for the little ones, this is the perfect spot to sit back and take it all in.

The Jetty – As if you could say no to a potato gem eggs benedict from The Jetty! Serving up a drool-worthy line up of brekky options (both sweet and savoury), with an even better riverside view, there’s no better place to book for a delicious family breakfast from Friday through Sunday.

Coco Bliss – For lovers of a liquid breakfast (smoothie and acai bowls that is), Coco Bliss is for you. Serving up a killer selection of smoothie bowls, fruit smoothies, coffee, and loaded toast toppers - their choc hazelnut Ferrero bowl is a personal fave – you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Shysh – If you’re chasing a delicious barista-made coffee and an equally delectable brekky (with a bit of Lebanese flare), you will not be disappointed by a morning trip to Shysh. Freshly baked goods and beverages 7 days a week – what more could you want!

Poppies – The newest kids on the block, Poppies has exploded onto the local breakfast scene with some fun (and unbelievably delicious) new dishes. Using only the best, locally sourced produce, their apple wood-smoked ocean trout with smashed hash, whipped avo, poached egg, lime and chilli is to die for.
