We all know (and love) that feeling of signing off work on a Friday.
Whether you’re heading out to drinks with a couple of work colleagues, or simply heading home to throw on a face mask and binge your favourite tv show, we can all agree that Fridays are a BIG vibe.
For those impartial to a cheeky cocktail (or two) – honestly, pick your poison – we’ve collated a list of our go-to spots for a couple of post-work drinks in South Bank!
If a couple of fun and fruity cocktails at sunset takes your fancy, or perhaps a glass of wine over a nice meal, you’ll want to book yourself a table at The Jetty. Boasting sprawling views of the river, and an even better drinks menu, these guys know how to turn up the charm. Drop by after work for some delicious share plates (hello Barossa baked camembert) and cocktails or stay for dinner.
Transport yourself to your fave beachside bar, with a couple of afternoon drinks at Southbeach. Bringing the atmosphere with live music each Friday from 4pm – 9pm, there’s never been a better spot to sit, sip and send off another long week. Whether you’re chasing a fruity cocktail creation, an ice-cold beer or a spirit (who could say no to a Malfy gin), Southbeach is the perfect spot for a bit of Friday afternoon grazing.
Beers taste even better when accompanied by free wings! Handing out honey soy, buffalo, sweet and spicy, and buttermilk fried wings every Friday between 4pm – 6pm, South Bank Beer Garden never disappoints. Did we mention these guys also offer live music between 4pm – 9pm on Fridays?!
Margarita Bar at Mucho Mexicano
Everyone loves a margi, especially after a long work week. Serving up some insane margarita combinations from their exclusive Margarita Bar on Little Stanley Street, Mucho Mexicano is THE place to go for a delicious cocktail and a selection of fresh tacos after work on a Friday. Because let’s be honest, what better way to wind down into the weekend than with some authentic Mexican fare.
They may be the new kids on the block, but boy do they know how to bring the fun! Putting their own unique twist on some classic Australian flavours, Poppies is our new go-to when it comes to an exciting glass of wine or a cocktail on a Friday. Accompanied by a selection of beautiful shared plates (would be rude not to), it’s near impossible to say no to a serve of their fermented potato focaccia or Fraser Isle crab arancini.
If a good craft beer is your drink of choice, you’ll want to make Tipplers Tap your new post-work watering hole. Stocking a finely curated selection of high-quality craft beers, alongside a super satisfying bar menu (big yes to the loaded chilli beef hotdog), Tipplers Tap is the place to go for relaxed Friday afternoon drinks.
Some Friday’s just call for an ice-cold beer and a loaded chicken parmi from Hop and Pickle. Bringing the gastro-pub experience to the heart of South Bank, Hop and Pickle is never a bad idea when it comes to laid back afternoon drinks or dinner. Whether you’re splitting a serve of crispy chicken wings with a mate over a pint or sitting down to a beautifully cooked grain fed wagyu, these guys are a definite must try.
