Clear your calendar—Snag Fest is hitting South Bank this May, and it’s bringing the ultimate trifecta of loaded eats, cold drinks and big-screen sports to Little Stanley Street Lawns. Running from 2–4 May, this street-style food fest is dishing up serious game-day action, minus the stadium queues.
The Line Up
Let’s talk eats. The foodie line up is stacked, with gourmet hotdogs, slow-roasted lamb rolls, Caribbean-inspired eats, and even a few nods to cult TV food moments (hello, ‘The Bear’-inspired beef sandwich). Local faves like Ahmet’s, Barbossa, Brooklyn Depot and Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers are dishing up the goods, plus there’ll be exclusive pop-ups you’ll only find during the fest.
Magic Dawgs
Brought to life by Alemré and Frank’s Red Hot Sauce, Magic Dawgs is slinging flame-grilled jumbo hotdogs with next-level toppings. Sink your teeth into The King Wally with cheese, pickles and mustard; the Tommy Turbo Dog with jalapeno salsa; or the Reece Lightning loaded with bacon and liquid cheese. Kiddos (or the snackish) can grab The Alfie, a half-size version. Don't skip the crispy loaded fries. Wash it down with cold brews like The Queenslander marg, Estrella Damm, and XXXX Gold.
Sausage Party
It’s all about bold flavours here. Poca Madre is dishing a jalapeno smoked beef corn dawg topped with cheese, sour cream, salsa and crunchy corn chips. Calida’s BBQ chixtorra skewers are loaded with zesty chimichurri, while Vici’s beef sandwich, complete with pickled giardiniera—is straight outta Chicago. Ole is keeping it crisp with golden mushroom croquetas and loaded fries. Sip on Estrella and crisp beers to cool things down.
Ahmet’s
Serving up Turkish favourites with a game-day twist, Ahmet’s has a halal sausage sanga, lamb cutlets with rice, and grilled chicken skewers with creamy jajik (tzatziki). Grab a Great Northern or sip on Marty’s Block Chardonnay or Shiraz Cabernet.
Barbossa
This Caribbean-inspired menu has the flavour turned up to 11—Caribbean-style hot dogs, slow-cooked lamb rolls, cheesy poutine-style chips and a fresh halloumi roll with relish and salad mix. Red and white wine, plus plenty of prosecco, will keep things bubbly.
Brooklyn Depot
Go full Americana with classic hot dogs, cheese cranky dogs and slow-cooked pulled beef brisket burgers. Pair it with nostalgic sodas like A&W Root Beer and Cream Soda, or grab a can of Matso’s Ginger Beer or a schooner of Brooklyn Lager.
Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers
Pillowy gnocchi is on the menu with hearty toppings like pork and fennel sausage ragu, wild mushroom and truffle, classic Bolognese and spicy Puttanesca. Pair your bowl with a Limoncello Spritz, Aperol, or a crisp Peroni or XXXX.
