Calling all foodies!
Monday the 26th of September is International Dumpling Day and to celebrate, we’ll be gorging ourselves on delicious, steamed dim sum, crispy gyoza, and pan-fried dumplings with all the trimmings (duh)…
To get you in the spirit (seriously, get that chilli oil ready), we’ve rounded up our top 5 dumpling digs in South Bank! Because who wouldn’t want to honour this humble little delicacy…
Harajuku Gyoza Crispy cheeseburger gyoza… need we say more? We’re drooling just thinking about Harajuku Gyoza’s fun and flavourful selection of handmade dumplings. Whether you’re craving a creation that’s a little left of field (hello crispy buffalo chicken gyoza with blue cheese sauce) or the basics like their traditional pork or prawn gyoza, they’ve got something for you!
Tai Tai When it comes to the classics, it doesn’t get much better than Tai Tai. Serving baskets of freshly stuffed and steamed dumplings, snack on an assortment of dim sum (the jade scallop and prawn are a big vibe) or enjoy a serve of their pan-fried saltwater duck and mushroom dumplings. Trust us, you won’t regret it.
Ma Pa Me Dim sum fiends, prepare! Ma Pa Me have the most incredible chicken dim sum on the menu and you’re going to want to try a serve ASAP. We’re talking a delicate chicken and mushroom filling, with cucumber, cherry tomato, sweet chilli sauce, chilli oil and a garlic crunch. So good!
Southbeach If you’re yet to try the wagyu beef gyoza at Southbeach, we suggest you change that STAT. Serving up a plate of lightly steamed and pan-fried gyoza filled with juicy wagyu beef, water chestnut and a side of tonkatsu and gyoza sauce, it’s safe to say we’re obsessed. Psstt… did we mention they’re dairy free?
Ahmets This dish may not be what immediately comes to mind when thinking of dumplings but believe us when we say that these Manti lamb dumplings from Ahmet’s are insanely good. A plate of mini, hand rolled lamb dumplings topped with zesty garlic sauce and a drizzle of paprika butter sauce, they’ll have you coming back for more!
