South Bank favourite, Popolo, has reopened with a fresh new look and menu, and it is totally worth the hype!

That’s right! After a recent refurbishment, the Popolo team have reopened their doors, boasting a sleek and understated new interior alongside a beautiful, refined menu of Italian comfort food.

Bidding farewell to the red neon and retro wall prints, expect warm terracotta tiles, grand arched mirrors, and a beautiful second-hand parquet floor imported from a heritage shopping centre in France.  Creating a light and bright interior, the new fit out, while simple and restrained, has all the charm and warmth beloved by its loyal patrons.

Taking to their menu with the same vivacity and excitement, diners can look forward to several lesser-known provincial dishes such as braised octopus with red wine, Ligurian olives and lemon mascarpone, and pizza fritta with mortadella, pistachio and stracciatella. Retaining their philosophy of using only the finest produce (hello oozing truffled burrata with olive oil and toasted bread), their food will transport you to the Italian Riviera... or in this case, the Brisbane Riviera. Authentic and comforting, yet beautifully refined, Head Chef Francesco Vitagliano has truly nailed the brief!

Amidst the glitz and glamour of this exciting new revamp, one thing is clear. Popolo’s essence hasn’t changed. While it may have a new appearance (and a scrumptious new menu), it still offers the same warm and inclusive dining experience that we fell in love with 10 years ago...
