Qld Pops Orchestra (QPO), on stage at the Concert Hall, for Brisbane’s jewel in the crown: a special 40th Anniversary New Years Eve Gala Concert appearance by one of Brisbane’s most beloved musical institutions.
The QPO’s Chief Conductor, Patrick Pickett CSM is intensely proud of the Pops Orchestra’s 40-year legacy of thrilling generations of Brisbane concert goers, and he promises a night of nights not to be missed.
Featuring a great shout-out to Australian home-grown works, didgeridoo virtuoso, Chris Williams and award-winning soprano, Nina Korbe. Nina is an accomplished young performer, who is quickly establishing herself in the opera industry as a rising talent.
One of the most dynamic and exciting world-class ensembles of its generation is Canada’s Borealis String Quartet. They receive international critical acclaim for its fiery performances, passionate style and refined musical interpretation.
Bagpipe lovers rejoice! No Queensland Pops concert would be complete without the traditional Scottish Piper Bruce Grice ushering in the New Year.
Forty years ago, a young Warwick Adeney played first violin in the fledgling months of the Qld Pops’ arrival on the Brisbane music scene. Patrick Pickett is delighted to welcome Warwick back as Concertmaster for these 40th Anniversary New Year’s Eve concerts.
