LUMINOUS Lantern Parade

Queensland's most iconic and largest celebration of multiculturalism, LUMINOUS Lantern Parade, returns to South Bank Parklands on Friday 1 August 2025, bigger and brighter than ever.

What began as a humble candlelight march in support of refugees and asylum seekers back in 2007 has grown into Queensland’s largest celebration of multiculturalism, inclusion and community spirit. Each year, thousands gather to take part in this uplifting event, with the magical LUMINOUS Lantern Parade lighting up South Bank in a stunning display of connection and unity.

LUMINOUS Festival marks the official launch of Multicultural Queensland Month, showcasing Brisbane’s rich cultural diversity through live music, dance and captivating performances from around the world. The free, family-friendly event kicks off at 5:30pm, with the iconic lantern parade making its way from Little Stanley Street to the Clem Jones Promenade, finishing at South Bank Piazza.

Presented by Multicultural Australia, LUMINOUS invites everyone to walk in the glowing procession or simply soak up the vibrant atmosphere. Come along with your family and friends and be part of this beloved tradition celebrating the many cultures and communities that call Queensland home.
