South Bank is about to get a serious dose of colour and flavour because Poca Madre is going all out for Día de los Muertos (Day of The Dead). From 31 October to 2 November, the modern Mexican hotspot will be decked out with painted faces, traditional décor, games, prizes and a special menu that’s impossible to resist. Even better, it’s running while Trick or Treat Little Stanley Street is on, so you can soak up all the Halloween vibes in one spot.
Start with one of the themed cocktails. The Cempasúchil Sour packs tequila, Aperol and lemon, the Altar de Ofrenda smokes things up with mezcal, elderflower and ginger beer, and the La Llorona blends strawberry, lime and charcoal for a bold twist. For something fruity, the El Último Trago mixes mezcal, watermelon and cranberry for a sunset-ready sip.
The $55 set menu for two or more is all about sharing. Kick off with blue corn quesadillas stuffed with manchego, mushroom and spinach, cheesy street-style corn salsa and house guac with blue corn totopos. Mains are crispy chicken flautas with smoky chipotle sauce or bubbling chorizo queso fundido with warm tortillas.
Finish on a sweet note with Pan de Muertos, the traditional Day of the Dead bread served with dulce de leche. Colourful, fun and flavour-packed, this is the perfect weekend fiesta to hit while Little Stanley Street is alive with Trick or Treat energy. Book here.
