If your idea of the perfect night involves incredible food, flowing wine and riverside vibes, then Popolo’s Hugo Wine Dinner needs to be locked into your diary. Happening on Wednesday 22 October at 6:30pm, this indulgent evening will see Head Chef Francesco Vitagliano serve up a decadent four-course Italian feast perfectly paired with Hugo Wines.
The night begins with a glass of Hugo Wines Sparkling Chardonnay/Pinot Noir on arrival before moving into a share-style feast made for long table dining.
For the first course, expect tuna tartare with a capers mayo sauce and pasta crisps, arancini stuffed with porcini mushroom, asiago cheese, smoked mozzarella and truffle aioli, ricotta and spinach gnudi in a rich tomato sauce, and potato and crab Crocchette with chipotle and ginger mayo. This spread will be paired with Hugo Wines Fiano and Grenache Gris.
The second course keeps things hearty with pillowy potato gnocchi in tomato sugo with buffalo mozzarella, followed by pappardelle tossed with slow braised Black Angus beef cheeks ragu and plenty of grated pecorino. Sip alongside Hugo Wines Grenache and Tempranillo/Grenache blends.
Next up, the third course brings melt-in-your-mouth braised lamb shoulder with balsamic glaze and heirloom carrots, served with roasted potatoes dressed in rosemary, olive oil and confit garlic. These rich flavours are paired with Hugo Wines Shiraz and Shiraz/Cabernet.
To finish, a luxe cheese selection featuring Camembert of Bufala, truffle Manchego and Taleggio with fig jam, nuts and lavosh, perfectly paired with Hugo Wines Cabernet Sauvignon and Reserve Shiraz.
