Clear your calendars because Clancestry is taking over QPAC from 23 July, bringing more than two incredible weeks of powerful First Nations storytelling, music, dance, art and culture.
A staple on the QPAC calendar since 2013, Clancestry is all about celebrating identity and connection, shining a spotlight on some of the country’s most inspiring established and emerging First Nations artists. And trust us, this year’s program is next level.
On the line up, you’ll find the multi-award-winning play The Visitors by Jane Harrison and directed by Wesley Enoch, fresh from critically acclaimed, sold-out seasons. Multi-award-winning electronic duo Electric Fields will team up with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra for a mind-blowing night of music. Composer and pianist Paul Grabowsky will also bring Yolŋu songmen Daniel Ngukurr Boy Wilfred and David Yipininy Wilfred together with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra for Wata: a gathering for songmen, improvising soloists and orchestra — one of the most exciting musical collaborations you’ll hear this year. And of course, the legendary Bangarra Dance Theatre is returning with Illume, a stunning new work by Mirning Choreographer Frances Rings and Goolarrgon Bard Visual Artist Darrell Sibosado.
The full program also features free live music, creative works and hands-on activities for the little ones, making it perfect for the whole crew.
