Calling all bookworms! Lifeline Bookfest is returning to the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from 18 -27 January, bringing with it more than a million pre-loved books in need of a new home. So, consider your weekend plans well and truly sorted!
Get ready to discover hidden gems at this nine-day spectacular that is guaranteed to fill that empty space on your bookshelf. Lifeline Bookfest is completely free to the public and helps save lives! Your new favorite read that you just can’t put down could cost you as little as $2.50, meaning more money in your pocket AND greater support for Lifeline’s 24-hour Crisis Support line (talk about shopping that makes you feel good!).
This book-lover paradise is organised into sprawling aisles of tables, each stacked high with a different genre. Take your time hunting through all kinds of finds from fiction, non-fiction, biographies, magazines, cookbooks, and more. There really is something for everyone!
After shopping up a storm, grab yourself a bite to eat and celebrate a job well done raising money for Lifeline at one of South Bank’s many fab restaurants! Not sure where to go? We’ve got you covered with our top three picks that are guaranteed to suit every craving.
If a pub-style feed is what you are after, then you can’t go past The Charming Squire! Our go-to picks are without a doubt the mushroom and truffle arancini balls for starters, followed by a melt-in-your-mouth tender rump steak with a delicious creamy mushroom sauce, and an ice-cold beer to wash it all down!
If you’re seeking a casual yet elegant vibe, Vici will be the spot to hit up for a meal, with each mouthful delivering the delicious factor! Our meal recommendation begins with the perfectly gooey burrata with truffle and roasted garlic oil, and crisp bread, followed by one of their iconic wood-fired pizzas! Our fave is the Capricciosa with ham off the bone, artichoke, mushroom, olives, and fior di latte, and of course, a glass of sauvignon blanc.
Finishing off our fave spots for lunch is Motto Motto! Indulge in a range of Japanese fare, from their iconic ramen bowls, donburi (rice-bowl dishes), udon, curry, gyoza, to bao buns, just to name a few menu highlights. Our personal fave is the black tonkotsu ramen with pork super broth, shoyu kaeshi, slow reduction of garlic and shallot, fresh noodles, seaweed, marinated soft ramen egg, and fresh shallots – as certified ramen lovers, trust us, you’ll love this dish!
